JCR Forms Alliance with Seoul Credit Rating & Info.

Japan Credit Rating Agency, Ltd. (JCR: President, Masao Fujioka) and Seoul Credit Rating & Information Inc. (SCI: President, Kyoung-Teck Whang), a leading Korean rating agency with its headquarters in Seoul, have unveiled an alliance in the field of credit ratings and marketing assistance. Both parties have formally signed an agreement in Tokyo on August 29, 2000.

-Based on this agreement, JCR and SCI will exchange information mainly relating to Japan's and Korea's macro-economy, analysis of corporations and industry, and rating methodology expertise, on bond issuance and structured finance. There will also be an exchange of publications. Both parties will provide beneficial in marketing, hold various joint seminars, and both companies' websites will be linked.

-Presently, JCR rates 7 Korean entities, including the Korean Government, local government bodies, private-sector banks, corporations and with SCI's cooperation, both parties can collect various information relating to the Korean market to elevate and expand business in the Korean market. Alliance with SCI is the first step leading to a rating business network within Asia.

-SCI was established in 1992, mainly assigns credit ratings to bonds and CP, provides corporate information, support for credit management, credit collecting, etc. in a wide scope all across Korea. Its sales in 1999 totaled to about US$18 million, consists of about 700 employees.
